The Tale
Louise began with a fascination for the silhouettes worn by women in 1990s photographs and films. Inspired by the effortless style of the decade, and women such as Zoë Kravitz and Jennifer Aniston, the idea was to create a skirt that felt simple in its construction yet beautiful in its movement. I was drawn to the way a skirt could fall around the body and flow with each step, worn through city streets without ever feeling overthought. There was an ease to those silhouettes that I wanted to capture. The fabric came next. I fell in love with an antique deadstock cotton plaid sourced from Japan, particularly its distinctive texture and the way the woven lines catch the eye. The interplay of color and pattern gives the textile a character of its own, while the silhouette allows it to move freely. Made to order for each wearer, Louise brings together the understated femininity of 1990s style and a textile that may never be sourced again. With enough fabric for only three commissions in pink and three in green, each piece is part of a small, finite release. Vintage reimagined. Modern heirlooms.
